Bishulim Hanukkah Edition

One of the best ways to get connected with a culture is through food. Food is what connects between people and generations.

The name of our club is Bishulim – in Hebrew the word has two meanings – one the technical action of cooking, but also the result – the food itself.

The Bishulim cooking club meets on a monthly basis, while focusing on a different topic each time, flavors and recipes that were passed through generations and in the end of the year we will collect these recipes and recipes from our club members to create our own cookbook.

? We learned how did Sufganiyot (donuts) and Levivot (latkes) become our traditional Hanukkah foods, how does buying Sufganiyot support the Israeli economy, and how Levivot look like in different parts of the Jewish world.
